ɣlulu; luluš ‘donkey + mule’ (also: nanna for male donkey)
Midar (Ayt Tuzin)
Part of speech
final -š (luluš)
In many other parts of Morocco, the BT term for 'donkey' is šašša (from AT šša, šša used to stop a donkey). In the Riff, šašša is not used as BT for 'donkey'. Rather, it is a BT term for 'shoe' (Iqeriyen). The terms ɣlulu and luluš can refer to the donkey and to the mule.
